Frequently Asked Questions

The part number is located on the roller side of the carcass opposite the tread side, an example part number is 320x86x52.

The 320 is the width of the track, the 86 is the pitch (measured from the center of one link to the next) and the 52 is the number of links that the track has. The width and Pitch are in millimeters.

For Compact track loaders we have an H-Lug and Z-Lug. The H-Lug is for harder surfaces whereas the Z-Lug is typically for softer or wet surfaces.

For mini-Excavators we have a general-purpose tread pattern that is adaptable to multiple surface conditions.

A ground pressure calculator can be found on our app which is available in the app store. By entering a few data points, it will provide you with an estimate on how much ground pressure you might expect based on your criteria.

A track fitment finder can be found on our app which is available in the App store. Just enter the equipment type, equipment make and equipment model and the output will show which track options Maxam has for your machine.

There are many factors that you can control, tension being one of if not the most important factor. Always ensure you have the correct tenson based on the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Preventive maintenance is also very controllable, clean your equipment and tracks, wash off any clay, mud, etc. if the material is not cleaned off the tracks and undercarriage it will dry and then add additional stress to your undercarriage system resulting in a shorter track life.

Driving behavior, watch your speed, avoid sharp turns and sharp objects. Manage sloped areas and curbs, don’t overload your machine, ensure your tracks are correct for the environment you are working in and transport your machine long distances.
