While solid OTR tires require zero maintenance and are built to last much longer than foam filled pneumatics, they still have a certain life span. Although these tires don’t require the maintenance pneumatic off-the-road tires require, MAXAM recommends operations inspect their solid OTR tires every now and then.
Below are some indicators that your solid OTR tire need to be replaced:
- Rubber pieces are peeling off on their own
- Layers of rubber with nylon cords that are no longer wearable rubber
- Tire has no remaining tread
In this image, you can see the rubber piece is starting to peel off.
There are ways to help prolong the life of your solid OTR wheel loader tires:
- Inspect all four tires and ensure the front and rear tires are no more than two inches of difference in overall diameter, if so, consider rotating the tires
- Remove any objects and debris stuck inside the tires and the treads
MAXAM’s traction solid OTR MS708 is designed from the inside out for the tire to increase its footprint as it wears, transitioning through four unique tread patterns, ending in standard L5. We have created this design to maximize footprint and tire life in your traction solid OTR wheel loader tires.
